1973 – Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission – Asst Planner II
1973 – State of Maryland Dept. of Health & Mental Hygiene – Management of health insurance claims on behalf of the State of Maryland.
1974 -- State of Maryland, Department of Insurance – five years on the staff of the Maryland Insurance Commissioner, Hon. Edward J. Birrane, Jr., Attorney charged with enforcement of the Maryland Insurance Code, Experience in Health, Life and Property Casualty Insurance. Interaction with Office of the Office of the Attorney General.
1978 - First Surety Corporation, Houston, Texas – Vice President – Duties included negotiations and underwriting of high-risk performance bonds for contractors. Travel within Texas and Louisiana to meet with attorneys and obtain security agreements.
1979 – 1980 – Prince George’s Community College – Full Professor of business, Economics, and Business Law.
1980 – State of Maryland, Department of Insurance – two additional years on the staff of the Maryland Insurance Commissioner, Hon. Edward J. 1982 - Ticor Title Corporation, Baltimore, Maryland – attorney with duties that included review of land titles, business development, negotiation of underwriting contracts, and interaction with real estate settlement companies
1983 – Law Office of Vallario & Collins, PA, Camp Springs, Maryland – Attorney – General Practice, specializing in insurance litigation in trial and appellate courts. Successfully briefed and argued the landmark case of Jennings v. GEICO that struck down provision of the “family household exclusion”.
1985 – Law Offices of George M. Blumenthal, Waldorf, Maryland – Trial and Appellate Litigation, General Practice of Law including contracts, property rights, estates and trusts, bankruptcy. Admitted to State and Federal Courts, now exclusively practice limited to state courts.
Community Activities
Active in community cat rescues – Supporter of Kitty Claws, Little River
Charities – St. Jude’s Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, American Cancer Society, Towers to Tunnels Foundation, local animal shelters and food banks.
Additionally, I have given hundreds of hours of free legal representation to Veterans and Active-Duty Service Members.
